Sherida Charles Dancing Tree—Denman Island

Sherida Charles is a Jamaican-born Canadian artist working out of Malaspina Printmakers and Howe Street Studios in Vancouver.   Her main media for expression are drawing, painting and printmaking.   After completing her B.F.A, Sherida studied at the Banff Centre, exhibited work in Jamaica and Canada,  and went on to earn a degree in Art Education at U.B.C.  Following that,  she worked as a public school teacher for close to 30 years.  During the pandemic, Sherida retired from full-time teaching and focussed her efforts on Art making,  as a member of the Printermedia residency at Howe Street Studios.  Over the past five years, Sherida has exhibited linocuts, woodcuts, mixed media pieces and paintings in both group and solo shows in New Westminster and Vancouver.
