CA$299.00

Wednesdays from August 9 to 30, 2017, from 6 to 9pm
Instructor: Carli Boisjolie
Level: beginner
Materials provided

Join Carli Boisjolie to learn the basics of letterpress printing, a type of relief printing that typically uses locking movable type, but that can be combined with photo-based processes to create images.

In this workshop, participants will receive an introduction to printing materials, including photo-based matrices. Participants will create image- and text-based files in Adobe Photoshop, and learn to transfer these digital files to photopolymer plates, which will be used to make single- or multi-coloured prints using our letterpress.

Carli Erin Boisjolie is a Vancouver-based printmaker and bookbinder. She holds a BFA from Emily Carr University of Art and Design, and has also studied in Tokyo. She is currently a member of Dynamo Arts Association, and volunteer and printmaker at Malaspina Printmakers. She has previously taught classes in letterpress, as well as in drawing and painting. Boisjolie’s own practice focuses mainly on letterpress, lithography, and drawing, and as a printmaker, her work explores process and repetition, which are inherent to the discipline. Her work has been exhibited in Vancouver, as well as in Fort McMurray, Alberta, and Tokyo, Japan.
