Ellen Scobie is a Vancouver-based artist whose process unites the traditional art forms of photography, printmaking and painting. Her work originates from digitally deconstructed photographic fragments that are recomposed into something new. These densely layered, digital mixed media works navigate the territory between photography, printmaking and painting. Her interest in the confluence of artistic media has led her to recent explorations in figurative sculpture. She received a BFA in art history from the University of Manitoba where she also studied lithography. Her work has been exhibited in Canada and internationally and is included in various private and corporate collections throughout the world.
