Many of Robert Young’s prints are meticulously rendered arrangements of figures and objects, frequently drawn from life but composed with a touch of the surreal. Also known for his drawings and paintings, his works occasionally have hand-coloured elements, that highlight single objects within all-over patterns.

Robert Young currently lives and works in Vancouver, where he was born in 1938. He received a BA Honours in Art History from the University of British Columbia, in 1962, and went on to study art at the City and Guilds of London School of Art, and at the Vancouver School of Art. He has exhibited widely, and his work is held in many private and public collections locally and internationally, including the Vancouver Art Gallery, the National Gallery of Canada, and the Tate Britain. He was an Associate Professor at the University of British Columbia from 1982 to 1988, and has been a visiting artist at many institutions in Canada and England. As a long-time member of Malaspina Printmakers, his work has been featured in many members’ exhibitions.
